Profits like these, growth like this, this business model: will Apple become the company with the highest market value in the world? Will Apple be the first company to reach a market value of a trillion US dollars?

The answer will be revealed some years from now.

Amazing that the iPod still sells this much; interesting.

2013.04.24

Two years have passed. This quarter Apple's net profit was 9.547 billion, an average annual growth rate of more than 26%. Would the people who were "buy to keep" back then feel dissatisfied?

Generally, when I'm going to invest in a company, I mainly consider two important points:

1. Can this company make a profit (enough profit) over the long term?

2. How do the profits the company makes get to the shareholders?

This time Apple has finally launched a real buyback programme, so the second point is no longer a worry. I hope the share price can stay at this level or below for a while; the longer it does, the more shares get bought back, and the intrinsic value per share will rise accordingly.

As for the first point, can Apple make a profit over the long term? People who didn't believe that from the start shouldn't invest in Apple (speculation is outside this scope).

Cook has already explained clearly why Apple won't launch a big screen for now. Shareholders who like that will naturally stay; those who don't can hurry up and sell their shares back to the company, otherwise later there may not be this price, ha (it could be lower or higher).

Apple should still be the most profitable company in the world right now, but its market value after deducting net cash is actually already lower than Google's market value after deducting net cash.

As I understand Apple, sooner or later it will produce another astonishing work. If Apple's profits can be like this even during an adjustment period, however you think about it, Apple isn't expensive, ha.

Noticed that "revenue from iTunes, software and services was US$4.114 billion", up 30% from last year.

I'm very curious how big this part will be in 10 years.

If it grows 15% a year on average, in 10 years that's 4 times.

If 20% a year on average, it's 6.2 times.

If 30% a year on average, that's 13.8 times, ha.

Within Apple's ecosystem, 15% doesn't seem hard to achieve.

Last quarter iCloud had 250 million users; this quarter it has reached 300 million. In February 2012 Cook announced that iCloud users had passed 100 million (that is, iCloud users rose 200% in a little over a year).

A note: generally a user has only one Apple ID, so only one iCloud account, no matter how many iOS devices you have. The more iOS devices you have, the more comfortable iCloud is to use. Users holding an iPhone who don't know about iCloud should hurry up and spend a little time setting one up, ha.
