Did everyone see this item?
I don't know whether the share of Americans "who can't afford food" is far higher than in China, but I really do know Americans who "can't afford food".
It's a very interesting phenomenon. A while ago, when oil prices were soaring, this American I know really did get to the point of having no money to buy food, yet he has a house he has been paying off for 20 years without finishing.
The American I'm talking about is a well-educated white man whose English is better than Jack Ma's, but his financial sense is a total mess: his credit cards are all maxed out, and he doesn't even qualify for food assistance.
I feel that cases like this really aren't isolated in America.
I've also seen an American (also white) who had been thriving on Wall Street for many years; when the financial crisis came, he actually sold his house and car and moved into a rented apartment. I really can't understand it.
Be sure to remember old Buffett's famous line, "you only need to get rich once", ha.
